AMIGA FORMAT - ONE TIME ONLY

AMIGA FORMAT - ONE TIME ONLY

I got a bit of a surprise just the other day, a rather unexpected gift, a copy of "Amiga Format" complete with a cover disk containing X-Copy. This may all sound a bit far fetched or something from a different timeline but no, it is actually a copy of Amiga Addict issue 40, but in this incarnation is issue 137 of Amiga Format released 25 years after Amiga Format issue 136. At first glance seeing it in a supermarket or newsagents it would appear to be a copy of Amiga Format.

The layout and fonts used in this edition of Amiga Addict are that of the layout and fonts used in Amiga Format 25 years ago. This edition of Amiga Addict is packed with interviews with previous Amiga Format staff and articles written by former Amiga Format staff.

There is a very interesting piece by Sam Dicker, an audio guru and the inventor of the Boing Ball.

There is a good write up on whether Lightwave 3D could stand its own today, 30 plus years after its initial release. Personally I preferred Cinema4D but always knew how powerful Lightwave 3D was but the Amiga I had at the time wasn't really powerful enough to run Lightwave. Most Amigans will know how useful a tool Lightwave 3D was in the TV production industry in the 90s, Babylon 5, SeaQuest DSV etc.

If Amiga Format had carried on being printed Amiga Addict is probably what it would have morphed into, one hell of an Amiga magazine. Digging into past, present and future possibilities of Amiga hardware and software.

In the past I used to buy all the Amiga magazines that were available Amiga Format, Amiga Computing, Amiga Power etc so would I recommend this edition of Amiga Addict for a good read? Most definitely and on a broader thought, would I recommend an Amiga Addict subscription then yes.
