JOLIKER X58 MP3 PLAYER

JOLIKER X58 MP3 PLAYER

I remember a time when a MP3 player was a separate entity to the mobile phone but then phones became more powerful and eventually had MP3 players built in to them, this is probably what most people wanted and it works well for a lot of people but I found I was listening to music a lot less when I was out than I used to. So the hunt is on for a MP3 player. Something that was unlike me who usually has a list of specifications a product must adhere to in this case I only had the one, it must be able to take microSD cards, not much to ask.

As usual I turned to that very popular online shopping site, Amazon, to find what I was after and strangely I didn't do any research in advance I just dived straight in. I simply did a search for "MP3 players" on Friday and sorted to see which could be delivered Saturday then sorted prices lowest to highest and then, really decided on looks and storage space 128GB. I also wanted it to have a microSD card slot to expand the storage.

Having searched and thinned out the hurd I was left with a handful of MP3 players by companies I'd never heard of but they weren't very expensive so I literally chose one at random. The make I chose was Joliker X58 with the following information "128GB MP3 Player with Upgrade Bluetooth 5.3, Portable High Fidelity Lossless Music Player, 2.4IN Full Touchscreen MP3 Player with Built-in HD Speaker, Dual Headphone Ports, FM Radio, Recording, E-Book". The MP3 player arrived on Saturday as planned and on opening the box which was about the size of an external CD player it contained some wired headphones, a USB-A to USB-C lead and the MP3 player itself.

The MP3 player appeared well made and was quite weighty, on further inspection I found that there was a microSD card already in the slot, I wasn't expecting that. So I plugged it in to my laptop via the USB cable and the screen lit up with the word "Hello". There wasn't a lot of setting up to do, just choose the language, to be honest I did expect my computer to recognise the MP3 player automatically but that wasn't the case. I was unable to transfer files via the USB lead and had to take out the microSD card, insert that into my computer and move audio files that way, a bit cumbersome but works well.

Once moving my microSD card back to the MP3 player I realised I didn't like the file structure or lack there of. The oprions seemed weired to me, I was able to view tracks which listed all track 1s together then all the track 2s etc not really to my liking so I viewed by artist but this listing seemed a little off as it listed the artists via "contributing artist" and not "album artist" which means I end up with a list of artists I don'r recogise, not to my liking either so I thought I'd try viewing by album, hoping for a cover view display after all the screen is large enough to be able to display them at a decent size, but albums were missing.

At this point I gave up as it doesn't really suit my needs, I was probably spoilt having owned an iPod Touch some years ago with a 4" touch display. So the search is back on, I may need to spend a little more than £30 to get the specifications and functions I require. I will be back with another rant on my next mp3 player and do a comparison with this player.
